As a recently retired lawyer, I know that many judges are quite lacking. I only wish I could have tried more cases before a judge as competent, principled, thorough and self-examining as Judge Sonia Sotomayor. The hearings have shown us the future and — thankfully — it is not this Republican band of grumpy old men.
